Tenure-Track Faculty Positions in Genomic Medicine

Columbia’s Precision Medicine Initiative, under the leadership of Tom Maniatis, is offering exciting new avenues for applying advanced genomic science to the diagnosis and treatment of the most challenging diseases. The Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM), under the direction of Dr. David Goldstein, was formed as part of this initiative to build a program that comprehensively integrates genetics and genomics into research, training and patient care and develops programs that prepare students for careers as researchers and clinicians in the expanding field of genomic medicine.

We are currently accepting applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels in the field of genomic medicine with a basic science focus. Faculty appointed to these positions will hold appointments in the appropriate academic department and will be full members of the IGM with full participation in its academic activities and full access to all of its core resources. Successful candidates will be team players who excel in highly interdisciplinary environments. These collaborative research positions are intended to use genetic and genomic strategies to advance precision medicine, understand human biology, identify the complex functional networks underlying health and disease, and develop novel diagnostics and therapeutics. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

· Animal and cellular models of human disease

· Statistical and population genetics

· Translational and clinical genetics/genomics

· Computational Biology and Bioinformatics

· Relevant basic human genetics

Minimum qualifications include a relevant PhD or a terminal degree, significant research training in an appropriate basic science field, postdoctoral experience, and an outstanding record of research accomplishments. A demonstrated ability to secure external research funding and publication in top peer-reviewed journals is expected.
